What is the FIFA permit embargo?

The City of New York has elected to institute an event permitting embargo, which means no permits will be issued in NYC during this set period, but there are some areas that are excluded – please call us for details.

How long will the embargo last?

June 11th – July 19th – there are some areas that are excluded, and some of the dates have been adjusted. Please call us for details and IRT updates.

Does the embargo apply to events on private property?

No, the embargoed areas only include public property, unless the elements of your event will trigger additional permits such as a NYC DOB permit.

Are other FIFA host cities also instituting a permit embargo?

At this time, NYC is currently the only known major city who has officially set an embargo period, however other host cities are heavily restricting activity in certain areas surrounding the stadiums.  These restricted areas are typically referred to as “Clean Zones.”

I’ve already received a permit for my event to be held during the embargoed dates. Does that mean my event is cancelled?

Events permitted prior to the enactment of the embargo are likely to be unaffected.

*Please note: FIFA permit embargo dates are subject to change by the City of New York.
