On July 14th, 2011, Military Island, located on Broadway in the heart of Times Square, was once again utilized by EventPermits for one of their clients on behalf of MasterCard. The “Priceless” New York event provided card-carrying consumers exclusive opportunities to meet celebrities and be a part of a “Priceless”, once-in-a-lifetime experience that they could talk about for years. This MasterCard event had appeal for people of all different tastes as its elements included a NY Yankees theme batting cage, meet-and- greets with Yankee’s players , tastings of NYC’s famed Tacombi Food Truck and an appearance by a world famous Chef, Aaron Sanchez. There was also a stage set-up in the footprint on which members of Jazz At Lincoln Center (JALC) performed. MasterCard encouraged their card holders to share their experiences via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.

Baseball fans not only got the chance to experience batting practice in the middle of Times Square but also got to meet two New York legends: Mike Torrez, pitcher from the 1977 World Champion Yankees, and Bucky Dent, Shortstop for the World Champion 1977 & ’78 Yankees and 1978 World Series MVP. Those willing got the chance to hit balls thrown by both players and have a photo op where they could upload the pictures to various social media sites. Imagine how exciting it would be to come out of your office on your lunch break, stumble upon this event in Times Square, meet some of your favorite past time Bronx Bombers and hit balls off of them?

The chef making an appearance was none other than Aaron Sanchez, award winning chef, author, restaurateur, and TV star on numerous Food Network programs, such as the famed Chopped. MasterCard members were treated to tacos and a photo op with Aaron Sanchez alongside the Volkswagen taco truck from well-known Tacombi Restaurant in Nolita. Owner of Tacombi, Dario Wolos Cantu, who was recently partnered with Myriad Restaurant Group and Aaron Sanchez (of Centrico), was also onsite cooking up different creations.

Jazz At Lincoln Center (JALC) performed a few sets for part of the event. We were successful at keeping the sound at a reasonable level but loud enough for patrons to enjoy. There were no complaints from stores, businesses or offices in the area and we can put yet another event with sound in the Square under our belt. And if you are looking to put a large event, such as the one described above, please feel free to reach out to us and we can work on a quote for you.
